5 Important Renovation Tips For Your Condo

Condo renovation is important for numerous reasons including improved home resale value, and enhanced aesthetics. A condo renovation can also improve house functionality and enhance the living conditions of its occupants. However, a condo renovation isn’t as straightforward as a stand-alone house. The restrictions and need for space make condo renovation complicated, requiring specific permissions. To achieve a successful renovation, it’s best to follow some tips which we’ll be providing in this article.

  1. Get the necessary permission

Some people make the mistake of effecting condo renovation plans without consulting with their condo board. Doing such has led to several law cases and will be so if you don’t plan to meet with your condo board before any renovation. Each condo is guided by specific rules and regulations, restricting random renovations. You need to present your condo renovation design to your condo board and wait for approval. Note, you can’t use the laws of another condo in a new condo.

  1. Consider vacating the condo for the renovation

Condos are small and condo contractors require sufficient space to work on your apartment. Not planning a place to stay during that renovation time can be disastrous. Some of the chemicals and materials that’ll be used during the renovation will be harmful and can pose a danger to your health. To avoid both, make sure you prepare beforehand a place to live while the renovation takes place.

  1. Paint

Just painting your condominium can improve its appeal tremendously. Fresh paint on a condo modernizes it at a cheap price. Any good paint is okay for the exterior; however, you need to be specific and intentional with the interior painting. Bright paints like yellow create a sense of bigger space, something in short supply in every condo. Darker colors however can make your rooms look smaller.

  1. Flooring

New flooring can tremendously increase your condo value. Old carpets or worn-out flooring will repeal a lot of viewers and even assures you of a negative review from condo inspectors. If you have the finance, then hardwood flooring will be a good choice.

  1. Hire a designer

Last and not least is hiring a designer. People often overlook the importance of designers. These professionals are known for creating masterpieces that are encircled in space management without compromising on aesthetics. Find a condo designer or any designer familiar with small spaces. You’ll surely be satisfied with the finished product if you work with a designer.
